all that they are sensitive to the black experience by commemorating the 58th anniversary of rosa park's courageous bus protest. the rnc took to twitter saying today we remember rosa park's bold stand and her role in ending racism. now i know what you are thinking. s this's not right. it was really more of a bold sit. folks, i've never been a fan of rosa parks. i don't get what the big deal is i refuse to give up my seat all the time. i don't stand up for pregnant women, the elderly or even for rosa parks. i stole her seat at a benefit to sit closer to oprah. i say you snooze, you lose rosie. i-- (applause) i don't want to toot my own horn but i am the rosa parks of not giving up my seat for rosa parks. nevertheless, i am giving a tip of the hat to the rnc for reminding everyone that rosa parks ended racism. the moment she refused to get up from her seat in december of 1955 racism was over. the end fade to black. or fade to chinese, whatever. it's all the same now. so bravo, rnc, for finally giving proper credit to rosa parks. and if anyone out there does not agree that she deserv

who shot and killed a santa rosa teenager in october is now back on the job, but he's behind the desk. the activist group justice for andy lopez is calling for a protest at city hall tomorrow. the district attorney is still investigating the deadly shooting. >>> a grisly discovery at a north bay park. a hiker with young children came across human remains. investigators are trying to figure out who the bones belong to. jody hernandez spoke with the hiker and joins us live from the park with the very latest. >> reporter: sheriff's investigators spent the entire day out here at shiloh park. they came out here collecting human remains after a hiker and his young children discovered a human skull out here yesterday afternoon. now, these are the photographs that hiker chris cain took of that gruesome discovery. a human skull and a tennis shoe. cain and his two young children were hiking along the creek bed yesterday afternoon when they made that troubling find. cain says he knew right away what it was and he called 911 immediately. he's hoping the discover will bring answers to that person'

like the numbers. 23 in santa rosa. 24 in napa. 31 in san jose. no matter how you slice it, these are really chilly temperatures for the bay area. >>> dramatic video of how severe the cold weather has been. these are sheets of ice falling from the buildings in texas. several residents captured the event on camera, including when that hit the ground where cars were parked. fortunately, no one was injured. also in texas, a slippery drive to work. this overpass in dallas became a sheet of ice. drivers gave up using the accelerator and steering wheel. some got out, and literally pushed their cars down the road. fire crews in illinois, jump into a frozen pond to save a frozen buck. the animal had gotten weak. workers were able to get a rope around his antlers, and pull him to safety. >> reporter: a winter storm is causing a mess along the east coast. heavy snow piled up in pennsylvania, slowing down drivers and sending cars off the road. more than 8 inches fell in the philadelphia area. causing headaches for motorists. >> the storms came out of nowhere. it it just hit us honestly. >> a

places. it's only going to get colder from here. right now it is 37 in santa rosa. 39 in after moon bay. it's the courtesy of the storm system that moved through earlier with rain and wind. it's pushed to the south now and this arctic has remains air mass remains. the temperatures will drop into the 20s and 30s. we'll talk more about the temperatures coming up in just a bit. >>> marin county is expected to get near-freezing temperatures and the north bay may be the coldest of anyplace in the bay area. the temperatures are expected into the upper 20s overtime. tell us, what is it like there tonight? >> reporter: the sign on the bank says it's 44 degrees, and that temperature has been dropping. it was 50 degrees a half hour ago. look at the video with the people out and about doing shopping, all bundled off with their gloves and that's and their warm jackets. the colder temperatures will be up in the north bay. i just traveled up to santa rosa and it was quite cold up there, so make sure that you bring your cats and dogs inside before you go to bed tonight. >>> developing tonight. ple

to the deadly shooting of 13-year-old andy lopez in santa rosa in october. ktvu's alex savidge joins us now from santa rosa with more on what's happening today. >> reporter: later on this morning the sonoma county board of supervisors will begin assigning that task force which will be made up of members of the public and law enforcement. it's a 21-member panel that will come up with an independent review process for officer involved shootings. some of the options could be a citizen review board or an independent citizen auditor. under the current system, the district attorney investigates officer involved shootings and decides if a crime was committed and then a grand jury reviews those findings. but anger over the deadly shooting of andy lopez in october prompted calls for change. investigators say sheriff's deputy eric yellhouse shot and killed the 13-year-old after mistaking the teen's airsoft bb gun for a real ak-47. lopez's family has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the deputy and the department claiming that shooting was unjustified. the santa rosa police department
